Compliance Paralegal The candidate will perform statutory, regulatory, and case law research into issues related to the firm's’s general business activities, including : insurance, privacy and cybersecurity, holding companies, and anti-fraud. Will organize, analyze, and summarize results of research gathered from various sources. Assists in tracking changes to laws and regulations applicable to the firm's of companies using appropriate software tools and other processes designed to trigger appropriate updates. Handles appropriate internal dissemination of regulatory and legal compliance updates throughout firm's. Performs follow up activities as required. Performs clerical tasks in support of routine filings and related compliance functions. Assists Compliance and Legal team attorneys with clerical or administrative tasks as assigned. Assists with or handles corporate reporting requirements nationwide. Works with Compliance and Legal team attorneys to respond to various requests from firm's business units. Drafts correspondence and legal memos (both routine and non-routine). Assists as needed in preparing departmental policies and procedures, operating and training manuals, budgets, charts and documents in support of the Compliance function. Monitors compliance with contractual requirements. Assists with the implementation of Compliance and Legal Department initiatives. Directly interfaces with in-house clients with appropriate attorney supervision. Resolves routine compliance matters requiring legal support under the supervision and guidance of attorneys. Assists in data gathering and compiling information for special projects as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Four-year undergraduate or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Paralegal certification from an accredited program preferred. Must have 3 years' paralegal or related experience. Must have 2 years of legal research experience. Insurance experience preferred. Must have proficiency with Westlaw and/or Lexis legal research tools. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Must have experience with and understanding of the role of the compliance function within a regulated industry.
