Human Resources Generalist The candidate assists in the articulation of the values and culture of the organization and proposes HR management activities which support the organization’s culture. Ensures all employment practices comply with federal, state and local regulations. Assists in career development, discussing career paths with line managers and recommending suitable candidates for promotion. Investigates and resolves day-to-day employee relations problems, either directly or through advice to line management. Leads the recruitment process, discussing staff needs with line managers, screening applications, conducting interviews and preparing offers. Participates in division-wide campus recruitment and diversity outreach events. Exercises leadership in the recruiting efforts and in the area of Affirmative Action planning. Ensure good faith recruiting efforts. Supports various equal employment activities/programs. Supports business objectives and key organizational priorities. Leads and participates in special strategic teams or assignments. Uses data and analytics to drive improvement (e.g. retention, engagement, hiring). Provides guidance and counsel to management on employee performance issues; develops performance improvement plans and conducts disciplinary/termination processes where necessary.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Organizational Development/Management, Employment Law or Business related discipline; Master’s Degree preferred; Degrees must be completed by June 2019. Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (documentation required). Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations. 3-5 years related generalist human resources experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of employment and labor laws and regulations including FLSA, AAP/EEO, Title VII, ADA/ADEA, FMLA is required. Manufacturing/Industrial environment preferred; chemical or process manufacturing preferred. Labor relations experience or formal education, including hands-on skills in negotiations, grievances and arbitrations preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products required; HRIS/ERP/ATS systems preferred. Should have excellent client relationship skills. Able to forge strong relationships with internal and external partners and be a visible representative of Olin in multiple forums.
