Paralegal The candidate will be accountable for providing business-focused legal support to our CEO and Ops and Development team and the successful candidate will collaboratively work with our franchise attorney and franchisees. Provide legal support for day to day franchise matters including purchase and sale agreements, restructures, early closures, defaults and terminations. Review contracts and transfer documents for the sale of franchised restaurants and the transfer of franchise agreements. Drafts, processes, and tracks franchise agreements, warning letters, default notices, cancellation agreements, etc. Facilitate full execution of documents by franchisees and ensure executed originals are returned and filed appropriately. Review and screen information, comments and questions received from franchisees and their counsel. Undertake special assignments, including research, review, and analysis of contract documentation and other issues as requested. Follows up on delegated assignments; knows when to act and when to refer matters to designated attorneys; provides feedback as needed to other team members and executives. Provides historical reference by maintaining and utilizing filing and retrieval systems; recording meeting discussions; maintaining transcripts; documenting and maintaining meeting notes and minutes. Draft development agreements to support Sonnyâ€™s expansion. Lease review and familiarity with leasing terminology. Act as a liaison to departments within the corporation. Effectively communicate to help drive alignment with franchisees and other business partners. Assists CEO with administrative duties as necessary. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualification and Experience
A Completion of a paralegal program with a Paralegal Certificate or Degree in Paralegal Studies, preferred. Should have experience reviewing and drafting contracts. Must have experience in restaurant or retail industries. Knowledge of commercial contracts, franchising, corporate documents, corporate entity formation and corporate minutes is required. Should have 5 years of legal experience. Must have strong conceptual, time-management, and communication skills. Must understand the importance of deadlines even when under pressure. Should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with all levels of the organization including management, peers, and clients. Must have excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office programs, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database management. Strong problem solving skills are needed.
