Attorney IV - State Regulatory The candidate will work directly with business units, department lawyers and outside counsel on regulatory matters and in proceedings before the state regulatory commission and appellate courts. Will handle legal matters and projects to include advising internal clients with respect to relevant statutory and regulatory developments, requirements and issues, and utility commission rates, regulations, orders and utility tariffs. Will have responsibilities related to litigation and rulemaking proceedings, while involving a meaningful amount of legal writing. Have responsibility for own caseload and have responsibility related to complex regulatory matters. Report to the Associate General Counsel who is responsible for state regulatory matters. Handle legal/regulatory matters before the state utility commission and appellate courts. Work on complex regulatory matters as part of a team with other attorneys, business units, and outside counsel. Handle aspects of multiple ongoing cases simultaneously. Draft and review both legal pleadings and business documents. Represent the company in mediation and litigation of customer disputes. Provide legal support and strategic and business advice to business units on state regulatory matters. Assist, handle, and manage, as applicable, regulatory matters before various state public utility regulatory agencies. Work on litigated matters and administrative rulemaking proceedings.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an accredited university. Must have 3+ years of professional work experience required practicing law. Should be a member in good standing of the PA or MD State Bars. Prior experience related to state public utility regulation and practice before a state regulatory utility commission is required. Electric utility industry experience helpful.
