Docket Clerk Duties: Performs data entry into computerized docket system to generate calendars from court documents, correspondence, rules and statutes; researches dates when necessary to supplement automated information. Proofreads computer audit trails of calendar entries to ensure accuracy. Provides general and/or specialized docket reports upon request. Executes and/or assists in special tasks or duties as requested. Establishes and manages an internal timetable for handling and clearing the docket. Works with Managing Clerk to communicate docketing policies and procedures to support staff and lawyers in assigned offices, and works with such individuals as necessary to address any associated problems or concerns. Maintains and monitors updates of court rules and procedures. Responsible for learning and demonstrating knowledge of court rules and procedures in several jurisdictions.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: B.A. or B.S. degree and/ or Paralegal education preferred with 2+ years of law firm experience preferred. Service oriented individual with an understanding the environment and enthusiasm for the challenges of providing complex services in a law firm setting. Ability to successfully work independently. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to fully adhere to firm confidentiality standards. Ability to explain docketing policies and procedures as they relate to attorneys and legal staff, and monitor compliance. Ability to effectively communicate and present information as well as respond to questions from lawyers, staff, clients and the general public. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Strong working knowledge of local, state and federal court rules, procedures and requirements. Strong calendar data management skills required; prior hands-on working experience with CompuLaw preferred. Combination of education and experience that demonstrates an ability to do the essential functions of the position.
