Intellectual Property Paralegal The candidate will be part of firm's Intellectual Property department and will provide paralegal support to a team of attorneys and support staff, assuming ownership for all aspects of file management to ensure a high level of service to both internal and external clients. Will assist with all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution including applications, responses, transmittal documents, etc.; collaborate with attorneys and paralegals as needed. Assist in filing of PCT, national phase, and foreign regional patent applications and responses (including preparation and review of necessary filing documents). Drafting correspondence to clients and foreign associates regarding deadlines and status of applications. Prepare shell prosecution documents. Review and manage files and docket for deadlines, understand docket deadlines and action needed on each file. Electronic filing with USPTO and WIPO. Overall support for all aspects of portfolio management. Maintain accurate daily time records for client billing purposes. Provide back-up support to team and project assistance as needed. Other tasks as assigned including billing portions of time.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have 2+ years’ intellectual property experience working in a law firm or in-house legal environment; experience with USPTO electronic filing procedures. Must have high level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must have knowledge of U.S., PCT and foreign patent rules and procedure; knowledge of national laws of other countries. Four year degree or equivalent law firm experience; Paralegal certificate from ABA approved program is preferred. 5+ years’ intellectual property experience as a patent prosecution paralegal, legal secretary or comparable position working in a law firm or in house legal environment is preferred. Familiarity with iManage and FoundationIP a plus.

Overall premise of the place is great, some finer tuning of things could help out quite a bit, as far as team creation and management involved.

Pros : Great place with great talent. Always liked working here and the talent has always been top notch. Love the management and the HR teamwork here.
Cons : Hours are sometimes different then what is best for the clients, and sometimes certain groupings of people just doesn't work out with me.
