Assistant Workersâ€™ Compensation Claim Manager The candidate will supervise and responsibility for the technical and operational functions of a workersâ€™ compensation claim administration team ensuring consistent quality service delivery and assist the Claim Manager with continuous departmental development and improvement. Will perform duties as requested by management. Assigned responsibilities and duties may vary based upon department growth and evolving operations. May maintain several very complex/high exposure claim management responsibilities as needed. Provide technical and jurisdictional direction, training. Supervise and mentor claims specialists. Monitor workload and individual claim activities to ensure quality standards. Establish and maintain claim diary criteria. Monitor claims management reports identifying large exposures and/or anticipate reserve changes. Participate in departmental human resource activities including hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary action and termination. Identify and advise Claim Manager of trends, problems and issues and recommend course of action. Assist the Claim Manager with the development and implementation of new processes and procedures that ensure continuous improvement. Authority to approve reserve and settlement recommendations up to $100,000 negotiated appropriately. Initiate claim review sessions. Communicate and correspond with internal and external customers/providers as necessary. Represent the company in a professional manner at all times ensuring quality customer service. Abide by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures. Support corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company. Work overtime as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have Bachelorâ€™s degree in Risk Management or other business related curriculum. Must have 8+ years of claim adjusting, paralegal and/or corporate claim experience. Team supervision experience is essential. Must have understanding of general claim procedures and loss prevention programs. Experience in the development, review and execution of litigation materials including pleadings, responses, discovery, etc is essential. Strong leadership, management and motivational skill is essential. Strong organizational, analytical and interpretive skill is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skill is essential. Should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with risk information management systems
