Attorney The candidate assists the Senior Corporate Counsel in advising the Association and Foundation on all legal matters including interpretation and application of Association Constitution and By-Laws and Board Policy, review all Association and Foundation contracts, administration of Association's general liability policy, review and advise the Association on general legal issues regarding employment, taxes and trademarks. Responds to legal inquiries from internal departments as well as Lions in general. Remains current on legislative/regulatory issues to facilitate association compliance. Maintains quality services and/or product by establishing or recommending, following and enforcing organization standards. Develops and manages relationships with outside vendors and suppliers including engaging and monitoring outside counsel. Serves as advisor and/or provides technical/managerial legal support to others such as other department and division managers, executive staff, Board of Directors and Lions. Disseminates information used in decision-making by the board or a committee of the board. Researches issues to recommend appropriate course of action associated with legal matters affecting the Association. Reviews and assesses liability for Association contracts. Develops and administers programs such as insurance, trademark and contract review policies. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional organizations as appropriate to field. Coordinates efforts with other department managers on cross-functional projects. Educates other staff regarding department policies and procedures. Responds to member issues including dispute resolution, member terminations, tax, incorporation, trademark applications, constitution and by-laws inquiries, election disputes, election procedures, and insurance. Provides resources or information to Lions members in the field. Researches industry trends to implement best practices for the association. Reviews applications for use of the Association trademarks and monitors and responds to illegal use of trademarks. Manages department operations by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards and resolving operational problems. Recommends and/or implements department plans and goals and monitors progress. Develops and recommends operational standards, policy and/or procedures. Ensures compliance with headquarter human resource policies and procedures. Maintains information systems such as databases or other programs to manage department information. Develops and/or recommends standards or procedures to be adhered to by outside vendors. Performs other responsibilities as assigned. Should have a J.D. degree and be licensed to practice law in Illinois. Must have 3-5 years of experience practicing trademark, international, real estate, tax and/or employment law or other relevant field of practice. International experience would be beneficial.
