Legal - Assistant General Counsel - Collections Litigation â€“ VP The candidate will support past and future collections litigation efforts on defaulted loans for CCBâ€™s credit card business, working with business partners to assist in building and improving the collections litigation process. The position will also assist the business and outside counsel in strategic litigation decision-making, manage escalated cases, oversee outside counsel, and assist in in the processes for sworn documents used in collections litigation. Duties: The responsibilities of the position include: Partnering with the Card lines of business to evaluate, develop, and implement consistent and strategically sound collections litigation practices and procedures; Evaluating, defining, and drafting collections litigation strategies and business processes; Managing and interacting with outside collections litigation counsel in all jurisdictions across the country, including providing strategic direction; Partnering with companyâ€™s legal oversight group in supervising outside counsel; Overseeing the contents and execution of sworn documents used in collections litigation; and Directly handling and solving escalated collections litigation issues.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. or educational equivalent. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment. Should have 5+ years of practicing litigation experience. Must have experience with state and local rules of civil procedure. Should have advanced legal research skills. Must have Strong written and verbal communication skills. Should have strong organizational skills and the ability to drive complex projects. Must be team player who can collaborate within the Legal Department and with line of business personnel of all seniority levels. Working knowledge of FDCPA and related debt collections laws, as well as familiarity with TCPA, SCRA, UDAAP, and FCRA is preferred. Experience handling a wide range of litigation from small matters to multimillion dollar cases is desired. In-house legal experience, including working with Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit is preferred.
