Mortgage Services Attorney The candidate will develop and implement processes to ensure the organization is compliant with regulatory requirements, review and negotiate relevant client contract terms and manage and oversee applicable licenses. Other responsibilities include: Establishing relationships with relevant federal and state licensing agencies and updating and maintaining licenses for all jurisdictions; Periodically updating the business team on licensing status, progress of all new license applications and renewals and substantive changes to regulations; Assisting with license-related due diligence in connection with corporate transactions; Researching licensing requirements in connection with corporate transactions and business expansion; Preparing and submitting written notices of reportable events to appropriate state and federal agencies; Analyzing new and pending laws and regulations which directly affect mortgage servicing; recommending appropriate policies, procedures, controls, reporting, contract language and agreements to ensure compliance; Reading and understanding reports, validating and analyzing examination findings, identifying best practices and apprising senior management; and Performing other similar or related duties as necessary. Knowledge of federal mortgage servicing laws and related state laws, such as: RESPA; TILA; GLBA; FCRA; EFTA; SCRA; ECOA; Dodd Frank; Unfair Deceptive Abusive Acts and Practices, and; National Flood Insurance Act is essential. Should have experience working with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Experience with GSEs and oversight of sub-servicers preferred. Should have 10+ years of experience within the mortgage servicing industry. Should have JD degree from accredited law school.
