Paralegal - Intellectual Property The candidate will serve as legal team member by providing timely and valuable legal assistance on matters pertaining to the function of Intellectual Property. Will partner with Intellectual Property Attorney to develop and implement process improvements relating to intellectual property strategy and decision making. Complete docketing system upgrade in cooperation with system provider, and review docket contents for completeness and accuracy. Support Patent Attorney in managing patent, trademark and domain portfolios, as well as support copyright matters. Interact with technology innovators in documentation and approvals required for new inventions. Support search efforts required prior to patent filing, working with internal Innography team and outside counsel. Docket and maintain patent records/files. Prepare documentation and assist with invention and annuity reviews and produce other required reports. Maintain patent, trademark and domain records to ensure appropriate payments are made by outside provider to avoid loss of rights. Work as liaison between client and outside counsel in managing trademark and domain activities (seeking patent attorney support as needed); e.g., acquire new TM’s and domains; review watch notices and coordinate actions required; provide TM specimens to ensure registration and/or maintenance. Support patent attorney in IP training of company management and staff. Support IP staff in assisting with preparation and review of NDAs and other IP documents.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Completion of a Paralegal certificate program or two-year program. A four-year bachelor’s degree is a plus. Must have 3-5 years of applicable professional experience. Must be well-versed in the area of Intellectual Property.
