Senior Paralegal-Claim Coverage Litigation The candidate will independently perform a variety of complex paralegal duties with limited supervision and has a solid understanding of complex legal issues. Will assist attorneys in all aspects of legal case preparation and file management including moderate to advanced legal research, drafting routine to complex documents and collection of information relevant to cases. Conduct investigations through personal interviews. Review and analyze various reports, responses and records. Determine scope, direction and depth of legal research on assigned projects. May prepare case summaries, medical record summaries, pleadings, discovery responses, affidavits and other legal documents. Conduct moderate to complex legal research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions and legal codes to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, etc. for use by attorney. Draft routine or complex legal documents for review and use by attorneys. Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for use at trial. Categorize and interpret data; review and analyze reports, responses and records produced by opposing counsel. Compile and prepare draft discovery responses. Prepare medical record summaries. Conduct investigations as needed and directed. Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in litigation by way of consistent communication with client, claims and full partnership with attorney through end of case. Assist attorneys in preparation of witnesses for deposition and/or trial. Participate in special administrative and legal research projects as requested.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Associates degree. 7+ years experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant is required. Advanced knowledge of Medical Terminology is essential. Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred. Litigation experience is strongly preferred. Must have superior interpersonal skills to conduct interviews and investigations and communicate with other attorneys, judges and court personnel. Superior grammar and writing skill is essential. Knowledge of law office procedures and local court/jurisdiction rules and procedures is essential. Must have resourceful research and analytical skills. Should be proficient in Microsoft Word and proficient in Westlaw and Lexus Nexus online research. Must be experienced with Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Paralegal Certificate from An ABA-Certified program is preferred.
