Legal Assistant Seeking an eager, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/ Paralegal to support the Vice President and General Counsel, as well as the other members of the Legal and Compliance team, across a wide range of matters. Will report directly to the VP & General Counsel. Help the legal and compliance team with projects in a variety of substantive areas including contracts, litigation, real estate, employment, non-profit governance, insurance, and regulatory compliance. Facilitate the contract administration process including review of contract review requests, ensuring compliance with relevant protocols, and managing contract database. Provide litigation support including through factual inquiry, compiling relevant documents, and communicating with insurance companies and defense counsel. Manage and process legal invoices and prepare legal spend reports. Work on audits and other compliance related projects, including document review and analysis. Provide administrative support which includes organizing and maintaining documents, calendar management, answering telephones, and scanning, copying documents. Draft and maintain legal correspondence, forms, and other documents; conduct legal and factual research; regulatory reporting, filing; draft and manage departmental policies; other obligations as assigned. Take ownership over work product and able to advance work independently, but also to use good judgment and escalate issues when needed. Proactive in figuring out potential danger and liability. Ability to put processes and structures in place to streamline departmental work flow and further improve client experience.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have an Undergraduate degree and paralegal certificate or training as legal assistant. 3 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department is required. Must have a Notary Public License or agree to obtain it within the first year of employment. Demonstrated, strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
