Corporate Counsel, Claims
The candidate should have deep employment litigation experience. Work closely with Claims Analysts and Sr. Corporate Counsel to manage customer employment practice liability (EPL) claims, including pre-litigation dispute resolution, management of active litigation, responsibility for discovery and other litigation requests and procedures, review of pleadings and other court documents, the receipt of subpoenas and other information requests and inquiries from third parties. Provides risk management advice to legal department, business partners and customers regarding EPL matters. Collaborate with insurance carriers and outside counsel to efficiently manage all aspects of EPL matters, including: staffing, litigation strategy, budgets, work product, discovery and developing initiatives for reducing outside counsel spend. Other special projects and responsibilities based on the skills and interests of the candidate and needs within the company. Should have Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Should be Member in good standing with the applicable State Bar. Should have 5-7 years of experience in an in-house legal department and/or a major carrier handling employment litigation. Demonstrated record for success strategizing, handling and managing employment practice liability claims to successful resolution.
