Administrative Services Officer II The candidate prepares substantial legal work, along with highly specialized and technical work, and also assists with the administration and coordination of all aspects of Case Preparation's responsibilities. Participates in a variety of management services essential to direction and operation of the Unit. Assists with or conducts legal research and preparation of memorandum of law and/or other legal writings. Performs responsible clerical/support duties. Participates in coordination of various administrative programs. May devise office forms. May participate in development of budget estimates and justifications. Compiles data for various reports and/or documents. Prepares various statistical reports relating to tracking and solving specific and general organizational and operation problems using various computer systems. May coordinate work of and train clerical support staff. May prepare statements from victims, witnesses, and criminal suspects. Assigns, assists, coordinates, or performs the production of case files. Reviews files for legal sufficiency. Takes corrective steps to improve the file by consultation with involved police personnel. Approves said files and forwards to DA's Office when complete. Participates in development of or amendment to department rules, policies, and procedures. Assists officers with walk-in, emailed, or telephone inquiries. Must have Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field from an accredited college or university and 1 year of experience in a legal field. Full-time years of work experience in a legal field may be considered in lieu of education. Accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Paralegal Certificate preferred. Knowledge of laws concerning accessibility and distribution of criminal history information desired. Knowledge of criminal law and procedures, case law and Metro Code preferred. Knowledge and ability to research the elements of crime listed in the T.C.A. as well as other legal resources desired. Deadline: 14 June 2018.
