Summer Honors Internship Program, First-year law students Intern will work of division: Workers' Compensation. The Law Department’s varied divisions offer summer interns hands-on practical experience. Summer interns regularly draft motion papers and briefs that are filed in court. Many take or defend depositions. Interns in the Appeals Division draft three or four appellate briefs from start to finish. Interns in the Family Court Division regularly appear in court to argue motions and conduct arraignments. Second-year law students interested in applying for the Summer Honors Program should submit their application through our online application system after August 1 as well as through their school's on-campus interviewing process, if available. First-year law students should submit their applications through our online application system after December 1. Where available, we prefer to see first-semester grades. The Law Department interviews first-year law students at several on-campus interview days and Spring job fairs. Second-year law students interested in applying for the Summer Honors Program should submit their application through our online application system after August 1, as well as through their school's on-campus interviewing process, if available.
