ProfileLegal Assistant (LA) The candidate will assist the General Counsel and the Chief Legal and Operating Officer in the delivery of legal services on behalf of the company, including interacting with outside counsel on a variety of legal matters. Will perform legal research; assist in drafting legal documents; create and maintain folders for CMS and EMS letters; organize collection of sample NAC and legal letters by subject and circumstance for use by NAC team and liasons; manage database regarding the same and update as needed; manage correspondence with insurance representatives; respond to requests for documents and information on claims. Create DRP and litigation hold protocols and processes; manage protocols and processes to include communication with associates and neutrals regarding compliance; monitor judge assignments in litigation involving firm. Perform clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, composing and typing correspondence, reading and routing incoming mail; organizing case files and maintaining documents. Assist with responses to inquiries related to ADR procedures; track requests and issues related to updates of firm's Arbitration rules and/or case administration protocols; assist with updates as needed. Manage the receipt and response to subpoenas; identify documents responsive to subpoenas, location of such documents (which associates and neutrals may have) and coordinate document collection and production. Manage files for Neutral Analysis Agreements and other ADR services agreements; follow up with associates to ensure agreements are executed and forwarded to legal department. Create and manage process for the National Arbitration Committee's ("NAC") review and collection of decisions; process to include disqualifications (DQ's), consolidation, and jurisdiction prior to appointment. Available for any other projects designated by their manager.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have Bachelor's degree, or a paralegal certificate which requires 2+ years of legal experience. In lieu of education, 3-5 years work experience in a legal environment is required. Solid knowledge of all processes, procedures and policies required to perform duties effectively is required. Must be Computer literate and proficient in all software programs.
