Legal Assistant/ Paralegal Duties: Provides all aspects of file handling for litigation and claim inquiry. Assist attorneys with hearing preparation, trial preparation and appellate preparation for first and third party property and liability cases for insurance defense. Assists attorneys in preparing for trials and court proceedings. Drafts pleadings, motions, examination under oath notices, scheduling hearings, mediations, depositions, and examinations under oath. Maintains contact and communication with those involved in the case, scheduling depositions, preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas, drafting complaints, preparing and filing discovery requests, preparing responses to opposing counsel and generating status reports. Keeps stakeholders informed by communicating case progress. Prepares case summaries and materials for mediation conferences, preparing pleadings, monitors and obtaining discovery responses and organizing materials for team case review. Organizes evidence, secures affidavits, and prepares exhibits and reports. Assist attorneys during trials. Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner. Participates in special projects as assigned. Maintains the integrity of the company and products offered by complying with federal and state regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Associate’s Degree or related technical training program required. A HS Diploma or equivalent and significant, directly related experience may be substituted. 3-5 years’ experience working directly with trial attorneys required; in the property and casualty segment strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and internet research tools required. Demonstrated customer service focus / superior customer service skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external personnel. Results driven with strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment; and manages changing priorities effectively. Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized. Collaborative partner; ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
