Legal Claims Administrator/Analyst The candidate under the general direction of the Associate General Counsel, responsible for initiating and maintaining the litigation files, assisting outside counsel with discovery requests, coordinating and participating in witness meetings with outside counsel, attending and participating (including preparation of case summaries) in claim related committees suniversity as the Medical Liability Committee, answering third party discovery requests and other projects as directed. The Claims Analyst will also assist in managing data for the Office of Legal Affairs. Practices service pride philosophy when speaking with employees, patients, visitors and physicians. Answers university discovery on assigned claims and litigation files. Prepares cases for legal action and secures evidence and documentation. Confers with attorneys, adverse parties, court officials, doctors, nurses and other staff as necessary about issues relating to claims and litigation cases. Interviews witnesses to obtain relevant information for claims and litigation. Locates and reviews medical records as part of discovery. Develops, organizes and maintains historical library for purpose of answering discovery requests. Opens, maintains and closes litigation files. Reviews attorney lien letters to begin the investigation of the case and compiling facts relating to the claim. Coordinates responses to subpoenas for records, including determining appropriate response. Prepares various write-ups and summaries for cases on committee agendas. Prepares case summaries for defense counsel within 10 days of request. Attends Medical Liability Committee (MLC) and prepares case summaries. Performs other duties as requested by senior management. Assist in entering accurate and complete claims data from litigation files and occurrence reports. Retrieve and analyze data to support the function of legal affairs. Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree with Paralegal Certificate and 3-5 years’ experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or risk manager in a law firm, hospital legal office or insurance company or Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years’ experience as a legal assistant or risk manager in a law firm, hospital legal office or insurance company. Will consider candidates with more than five (5) years’ experience in lieu of B.S. degree. Medical background, suniversity as nursing, medical technologist or experience in medical claims handling required. 3 years computer experience needed. Requires knowledge of computer technology with ability to generate reports and charts. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and demonstrated analytic ability, professional manner, familiarity with medical procedures and terminology, ability to work independently.
