Intellectual Property - Litigation General

IP Litigation Paralegal Duties: Handle all filings and service. Prepare and maintain (or oversee maintenance of) case files, indices and chronologies. Check docket and alert attorneys to upcoming deadlines. Assemble and organize requested materials for attorney or client review. Utilize a variety of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases (such as document review and file management systems), and imaging in discovery and case management. Assist in document production process, including review for production and/or privilege, tagging and redaction, preparing privilege and redaction logs, and assisting with logistics and coordination utilizing document review tools, and quality control of productions. Guide clients in defensible processes applying the rules of ESI preservation and collection. Utilize internet file transfer, FTP, document security/encryption, and best practices in client data management. Interact with E-Discovery vendors, vendor management, and quality control. Draft correspondence, memoranda or pleadings. Perform investigative and background research, including witness location, and cases/legal authority gathering. Create and maintain databases of documents and information. Review and analyze documents, data, and depositions as required by team attorneys and/or clients. Assist at and in preparation for depositions of fact and expert witnesses. Coordinate preparation of motions and briefs including proofreading, cite-checking (if applicable), assembly of exhibits, filing and service. Assist with preparation for trial including gathering documents to be used as trial exhibits, preparation of witness binders, deposition designations, review and organization of materials for use by team attorneys, preparation of electronic presentations, and coordination with litigation support personnel. Organize work rooms. Coordinate trial set up including all trial work rooms, resources needed on site at trial, and coordinating with any eVendors used at trial. Provide proactive management of larger cases, including coordination of support efforts and preparing for upcoming events. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or paralegal certificate required. Certification and formal training in an E-Discovery (ACEDS, Relativity, NUIX, etc.), Records Management (ARMA), Information Governance, or Data Privacy areas preferred. 5+ years of paralegal or other relevant experience. Demonstrates proficiency, skills and knowledge of the position as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and development. Experience with electronic filing in federal and state court and at the Patent Office for post grant proceedings. Possesses strong oral and written communication skills, and outstanding organizational skills. Possesses hands-on experience or training with ESI tools and general knowledge of E-Discovery procedures and resources. Effectively anticipates, monitors, and meets the needs of internal and/or external clients in a timely manner that delivers high quality service.
