Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a National Security/CFIUS, Export Controls, and Sanctions Associate Attorney to provide comprehensive legal counsel on matters concerning national security, export controls, and sanctions compliance. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in navigating regulatory frameworks, advising clients on potential risks, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on matters related to CFIUS and FDI filings, including jurisdiction identification and assessment, and evaluation of national security risks associated with proposed transactions.
  • Counsel clients on compliance with . export control regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and . sanctions programs administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing compliance programs concerning export controls and sanctions.
  • Conduct due diligence and risk assessments for clients in mergers, acquisitions, financing, and other transactions.
  • Address and mitigate Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI) concerns and ensure compliance with National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) requirements.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Working knowledge and capability to provide advice on regulatory programs administered by CFIUS and parallel . Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) regimes, export controls, and sanctions.
  • Experience with NISPOM and FOCI mitigation is desirable.
  • Top academic credentials and excellent writing skills.
  • Admission to the . Bar or eligibility for admission.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility for admission.
