Labor/Investigation Attorney The candidate will manage and provide advice to all aspects of employment law issues while advising the company on compliance with federal, state and local laws. Will provide guidance on workplace compliance and strategies throughout the organization. Identifies and manages risks to the business while serving as trusted advisor when counseling management. Represents the company through investigations, arbitration, mediation, and litigation. Maintains effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjust effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures. Demonstrate a poised, credible, and confident demeanor that reassures others and commands respect; convey an image that is consistent with the organization's vision and values. Guide and educate the business on federal, state and local labor and employment law topics. Provide in house counsel on labor and employment related matters including human resource issues, nondiscrimination and anti-harassment, affirmative action, restructures, policies, disability law, pay practices, FMLA, labor law, non-competes, government contractor compliance requirements, mergers and acquisitions. Serve as the subject matter expert by gathering facts of each situation and execute on litigation activities including negotiation, legal writing, oral advocacy and counseling. Lead cross functional projects by supporting the strategic business priorities and influence the decision making process in regards to labor law. Identify and assess the legal risks and opportunities in regards to labor and employment law and advise accordingly. Lead due diligence, document negotiation and drafting for mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic projects and adjacencies. Oversee drafting and negotiation of a broad range of complex agreements working collaboratively with business and functional teams to protect company interests and minimize risk of loss or liability. Partner with outside counsel if needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney. Should have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Must have strong knowledge and interest in employment law. Excellent communication both verbally and written are a must. Strong organizational skills, ability to juggle multiple priorities & meet short deadlines, and work in a very fast-paced environment is required. Must have strong advocacy, negotiation, interpersonal, and legal research skills. Master's Degree or MBA Preferred.
