Paralegal Responsibilities: Assist with research and drafting written opinions and recommendations for internal departmental customers regarding a wide range of legal issues and regulatory policies and processes; Ability to cogently present information in meetings with clients regarding significant legal and regulatory concerns; Monitor developments and trends in the regulatory environment that apply to and affect business operations in all jurisdictions where Acceptance operates or is considering operating in the future; Establish and maintain a repository of information on laws, rules, regulations and court decisions that impact Acceptanceâ€™s business operations; Track proposed and/or final legal and rule changes as well as other significant regulatory events as they occur and alert key staff about them as necessary; Support internal investigations related to business operations and processes; Track and coordinate responses to subpoenas and other authorized requests for company records and documents, including managing relationship with vendor for outsourced responses. Serve as liaison between legal department and other internal departments of company; Assist with preparation and submission of routine filings with state insurance regulators; Manage contract review process and tracking; Provide litigation management support regarding litigated matters filed against the company; Assist with management and review of legal billing from outside counsel; Organize documents and information for financial, market conduct, and other similar regulatory examinations of business operations and practices; Support legal processes and policies; Attention to detail and ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks; Ability to effectively communicate complex messages to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing; Ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors and peers; Demonstrated strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and tight timelines; Ability to draft effective legal documents, correspondence and/or regulatory filings; Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Other activities and duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelorâ€™s degree preferred. Paralegal certificate from ABA accredited paralegal program is a plus. Notary Public or willing to be licensed. Experience working in property and casualty insurance industry a plus.
