Profile

Paralegal Duties: Investigate the facts of a case, and summarize findings to supervising attorneys. Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles. Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing system. Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Conduct interviews of clients, witnesses and other third parties. Draft correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, motions, draft discovery responses, and subpoenas. Obtain affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court. Collect and prepare materials to be submitted to experts. Review, digest and summarize written discovery, document production, medical records, and items obtained via subpoena. Assist lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, drafting reports, reviewing trial transcripts ensuring file is trial ready. File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel. Coordinate with various parties to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions. Perform court runs, deliver subpoenas, or make other job-related deliveries or pickups.

Qualification and Experience

Candidate must be an experienced personal / bodily injury litigation defense. Must have: Solid experience as a litigation paralegal in an insurance defense law firm for 3+ years. Must have the ability to work proactively, independently and demonstrate excellent analytical, writing, research and communication skills. Exceptional client service, organizational skills and solid education background are needed. Familiarity of state and federal court systems, including documentation and filing procedures in Florida. Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet. Familiarity of state and federal court systems, including documentation and filing procedures. Previous experience in timekeeping and calendaring processes.

The firm needs to look at how to improve the level of respect amongst staff and management. Seminars and workshops should be required to close the gap of division between attorneys, staff and management.

Pros : The salary for employees is very competitive amongst other law firms in the area. The work schedule is very open. A variety of work is very occurring.
Cons : There are too few employees. Using software is difficult because they don't have adequate resources like megabytes to run it. Attorneys are limited to the number of space they have to save their emails.
