Summer Law Student Volunteer The candidate will work is needed Criminal Division. Assignments may include assisting attorneys with legal research, drafting legal memoranda and appellate briefs, and assisting in trial preparation. Externs will be given the opportunity to attend trials and other court proceedings and participate in law enforcement training exercises. Externs who have already completed courses in evidence and criminal procedure and qualify to practice under the district court's student practice rules appear in court to argue motions or to try petty offense or misdemeanor cases before a magistrate judge. First-year (second semester) second- or third-year law students can apply. Must be in Class ranking in the top 25%. Criminal procedure and evidence preferred. Duration: 10 weeks. Application Deadline: 15-12-2018.
