A law firm seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented litigation associate to join its Chicago, Illinois office. This position offers a dynamic opportunity for an attorney with at least two years of civil litigation experience to handle a diverse array of cases. The successful candidate will work on high-profile legal matters, engaging with sophisticated clients and tackling complex, cutting-edge legal issues.

Duties:

  • Manage a broad range of civil litigation matters, including commercial disputes, professional liability cases, product liability, construction defects, insurance defense, workers' compensation, torts, breach of contract, and personal injury claims.
  • Handle class action lawsuits and other complex legal proceedings, providing thorough legal research, drafting documents, and preparing case strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies, assist in trial preparation, and represent clients in hearings and court appearances.
  • Directly interact with clients, providing legal advice and ensuring clients are informed of all developments in their cases.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution efforts to reach favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Contribute to a supportive, team-oriented work environment by sharing insights, providing assistance, and engaging in ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in civil litigation, including expertise in areas such as commercial disputes, professional liability, product liability, insurance coverage, torts, breach of contract, and/or personal injury law.
  • Experience with labor and employment law is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to prepare persuasive legal documents and case strategies.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to take on significant responsibility for case management and client interactions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in Illinois.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois.

Skills:

  • Expertise in civil litigation and case management.
  • Superior research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in trial preparation, including drafting pleadings and motions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Proficiency with legal software, case management tools, and legal research databases.
