A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The attorney will handle defense litigation matters, specializing in construction defense litigation and New York labor law, with opportunities to work on professional executive and D&O matters.

Job Duties:

• Manage a substantial caseload involving defense litigation matters, including construction defect and New York labor law cases.
• Draft, prepare, and handle pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda.
• Respond to written discovery and dispositive motions with thoroughness and accuracy.
• Conduct legal research competently and proficiently.
• Prepare for and take depositions of parties and expert witnesses.
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and provide status report correspondence.
• Handle matters from inception through trial, including participation in mediations and court appearances.
• Maintain direct communication with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and support staff.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in New York courts; additional state admissions, including New Jersey, preferred.
• 5+ years of defense litigation experience, with a focus on construction defense litigation and New York labor law.
• Proficiency in both state and federal court procedures.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, superb organization, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and internet navigation.
