Immigration Attorney Duties: Focus on immigration, domestic violence and family law matters. Will be responsible for representing survivors of domestic violence with their immigration petitions (U, T Visas and VAWA) and provide assistance in family law disputes and at restraining order hearings. Frequent travel to other NLSLA branch offices, courts, government agencies, shelters and community-based organizations throughout southern California is required.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must be licensed and eligible to practice law in California with 4+ years of experience in immigration law and/or defending victims of domestic violence. A skillful attorney who can excel in a fast-paced, dynamic anti-poverty law practice and is capable of fiercely advocating on behalf of NLSLA clients in multiple forums. Must have a demonstrated passion and commitment to public interest law and prior experience serving low-income individuals and client groups, with a sensitivity to those in crisis. Strong research and organizational skills; the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing; and well developed analytical skills. Of critical importance is that the candidate be self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required.
