Legal Counsel The candidate will be providing advice and counsel in real time to school and Network staff on a wide range of cutting-edge legal, special education, and school matters. Will be providing legal representation to our 46 schools in a wide range of legal matters. Drafting, developing, and implementing organizational policies and procedures. Liaising with Human Resources and advising on employment-related matters. Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda. Negotiating equitable use of schoolsâ€™ shared space. Shepherding innovative programming through legal requirements. Preparing and presenting organization-wide trainings. Conducting internal investigations and drafting corresponding reports. Liaising with local law enforcement and safety agencies to address safety concerns and emergencies. Supporting staff and departments with escalations to local government and outside agencies to ensure fast results for scholars and families. Communicating attorneys who contact schools and the Network. Should have 2-5 years experience preferred, but all outstanding candidates will be considered and compensation will be commensurate with experience. A strong interest in education and/or education reform is needed. Strong research, writing, problem solving, and analytical abilities is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, good judgment, and an ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative environment is essential.
