ProfileStaff Attorney, Health Law Unit The candidate will represent clients in a variety of matters related to their health, including life planning, public benefits, health insurance, housing loss, poor housing conditions, domestic violence, employment, and access to appropriate support services. Knowledge of health, insurance, employment law, and a commitment to, or experience with, helping persons living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, or other life threatening diseases is helpful but not required. In addition to legal representation of clients, staff members perform regular outreach and community education for clients and medical/social service staffs. Access to a car or other transportation is necessary to perform community outreach duties. Must possess excellent legal writing, oral advocacy and work ethic. Communication and listening skills, ability to work on a team and alone, adaptability, and appreciation of diversity are required. A Georgia Bar license or eligibility for the next exam is required. Demonstrated commitment to public service, participation in law school clinics, trial advocacy courses, familiarity with areas of poverty law, and previous work with low-income persons are strongly preferred.
