Senior Advocate
Responsibilities: Design and advocate for jurisdictional solutions to achieve the Project’s mission and goals for clean energy development and a low-carbon electricity future, including solutions for wholesale electricity market design and performance and transmission planning/cost allocation. Provide counsel and guidance to coalition members on related energy policy issues, including issues impacting both federal and state authority over electricity. Work with electric power sector industry experts, participating in stakeholder meetings, industry conferences, and workshops. Represent coalition and at jurisdictional planning and market regions, in Congress, state commissions, and other forums and proceedings. Support the Sustainable Project’s communications goals by drafting blogs and issue papers, responding to media inquiries, and taking other actions necessary to support the initiative.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree or a graduate level degree in a related discipline such as economics, energy, or engineering. 7+ years relevant work experience. Familiarity with wholesale energy market issues, and significant experience in FERC, RTO/ISO and/or state utility commission proceedings. Excellent legal writing skills and the ability to communicate technical transmission gridissues to non-technical audiences. Oral advocacy experience and comfort speaking in varied settings, ranging from working groups to conferences. Strategic thinking ability. Strong interpersonal skills.
