Profile

Managing Counsel Litigation The candidate will be responsible for providing a diverse range of project management, analytic, business communications, quality control, risk management and operational related legal services to the Deputy General Counsel to whom it reports and to the entire Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement Division. Will be responsible for leading cross functional/virtual teams to strategize, plan and execute a variety of programs, services and initiatives that are larger in scope and complexity. Examples include interacting with Finance, executive management and Operational Risk on projects and initiatives, as well as leading projects involving process improvement and redesign or business and risk initiatives. Involved in change management initiatives within the Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement Division and Legal Department and in partnership with external vendors. Coordinate with lawyers, paralegals, and other support staff as well as outside counsel to design, develop and execute reporting and analytics for a variety of purposes and stakeholders as well as support training and quality control processes. Coordinates meetings, agendas, follow-ups and manages the communication and information flow for the Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement Division. Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders on a variety of topics and tasks. Provides leadership to internal and external stakeholders in the integration/implementation of programs, services, and initiatives with cross functional business partners and balances competing priorities and strategies. Develops metrics and tracks and evaluates performance of programs, services and initiatives. Ensures plans and programs adhere to appropriate policies and processes. Ensures high level of quality standards are applied to all content delivered from this team and that appropriate quality controls are in place.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have 10+ years of experience as a practicing attorney; or 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney and 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following areas: risk, compliance, contracts, government/regulatory, financial services, or technology. Should have active State Bar membership. Should have 1+ year of leadership experience. Business development experience including development and execution of business vision, strategies, and goals is preferred. Leadership and management experience for team of attorneys and staff with a section or legal specialty including developing virtual staff and managing a budget is desired. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy is a plus. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills is helpful. Knowledge and understanding of data governance challenges and approaches: metadata, data quality, and data stewardship is an asset. Extensive knowledge and understanding of research, counsel, and guidance on complex legal questions or inquiries is desired.
