ProfileStaff Attorney The candidate will conduct immigration legal consultations to screen potential clients for immigration relief. Will represent clients before state court, USCIS, EOIR, and BIA in a variety of immigration matters including: Family reunification petitions, Consular Processing, Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, and Work Authorization; File all relevant paperwork and applications with government agencies, immigration court, and state courts where applicable; Attend immigration and state court hearings, and interviews and adjudications before government agencies; Assist with training and supervision of Legal Assistant, OLAP Accredited Representatives, and volunteers; Assist in office operations, including case management, data entry and maintenance, and reports. Assist in the development of grants or contract proposals and reporting. Conduct outreach, lead trainings, and participate in networking activities. Make appropriate referrals to other service providers and relevant community partners. Maintain bar membership through continuing legal education. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Should have 2+ years of experience in direct representation of clients in immigration proceedings. Current Bar membership in good standing to practice in any of the United States (New York barred preferred) is needed. Foreign language ability is a plus (preference for Arabic speakers) is essential. Experience working with immigrants, low-income communities, children, survivors of domestic violence, survivors or sexual assault, or other gender-based violence is needed. Good communication skills, flexibility, and good humor is highly desirable. Experience supervising legal staff or interns are needed.
