Paralegal / Legal Assistant The candidate will anticipate and prepare assigned lawyers for the day-to-day activities. Will ensure all hours (billable and non-billable) are accurately recorded. Communicate in professional and respectful manner with clients, employees, attorneys, vendors, opposing parties and third-party providers. Maintain and hold in high regard all confidential information obtained through employment. Type at least 50+ wpm, 10-key. Assist attorney with day-to-day functions, including daily calendar review. Coordinate appointments, including all correspondence and logistics. Understand the basics of court documents (summons, subpoenas, complaints, etc.). Make travel arrangements. Manage client emails and phone calls, set up conference calls. Process all incoming and outgoing mail. Draft documents and letters from existing firm templates. Obtain documents from third-parties (title docs, supplemental client materials, government and court documents), as necessary. Correspond with counsel, court and clients. Assemble and file court documents, ensuring necessary checks are requested. Proofread all pleadings, correspondence and memoranda for accuracy. Arrange for process of service, as necessary. Assist with accounting and billing, or other administrative needs from time to time (reception). Implement and improve upon administrative processes for more efficient workflow. College level writing, English or other communication coursework is needed. Must have 2+ years of experience. Broad knowledge and skills such as attention to detail, keen observation, time management, organization and communication is needed.
