Legal Administrative Assistant, National Security Project
The candidate will handle duties that include: Handle general clerical and administrative duties for the Project and the Director of the Center for Democracy including processing invoices, tracking expenses and case costs, preparing expense reports, ordering supplies, etc. Type, prepare, proofread, cite-check, and edit legal and other documents. Maintain and organize electronic and hardcopy files for cases and advocacy projects. Draft correspondence and other materials as requested; respond to written and verbal inquiries. Conduct factual research. Answer telephones, route calls, and take messages. Schedule meetings and conference calls; prepare relevant materials. Handle travel arrangements for staff. Fax, copy, mail and complete other general administrative tasks as assigned. Provide administrative support for manager review of applications for intern positions. Work jointly with interns and communicate routine and/or procedural guidance on projects assigned by managers. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance. Commitment to working collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts. Bachelor’s degree is required. Should have 1-2 years’ related work experience. Must possess strong administrative, organizational and time management skills. Must possess strong research, writing, and proofreading skills. Must be detail oriented and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an excellent telephone manner. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook) and have experience with Internet research.
