Associate Dean of Career Services Responsibilities: Supervise career counseling and related services to students and alumni. Supervise the Fall and Winter On-Campus Interview programs. Supervise student training programs that enable the preparation of job search materials and student coaching programs that prepare student applicants for effective bid preparation and interview execution. Supervise the development and presentation of OCS educational programs on a range of career-related subjects. Supervise development, review and revision of OCS publications and policies. Supervise the public service and pro-bono programs, including identification of Law School funds earmarked for public service summer and post-graduation employment support. Represent the Law School at recruitment and alumni events when necessary. Produce periodic and annual budget reports as requested. Supervise the production of internal and external reports about student employment patterns or other topics. Supervise the collection and compilation of data required for reporting to organizations such as the ABA Section of Legal Education and NALP as well as other entities that request data for law school ranking purposes. Oversee the environmental scanning, collection, and dissemination of legal employer career information and trends for students and alumni. Oversee maintenance of databases for on-campus recruitment as well as strategic and budgetary planning processes. Supervise data entry and report productions by career services professionals and clerical staff. Supervise provision of information about law student employment patterns to the media, employers, students, alumni, faculty and internal administrators. Supervise administrative aspects of the judicial clerkship employment process in support of faculty, students and judges. Supervise administrative activities of Faculty Public Service, Judicial Clerkship and Student Services Committees. Provide leadership to the Law School, in all top administrative matters in collaboration with the Dean and other Associate Deans. Provide key input, leadership and support to ABA compliance reporting and site visits as needed. Other responsibilities and duties as required by the Office of Career Services and in support of the Dean of the Law School.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Master’s Degree required. JD Degree or Ph.D. preferred, or advanced equivalent. 5+ years’ experience managing career services or another student services office required. Prior experience working within a Law School or other unit of higher education strongly preferred. Prior supervisory experience required. Excellent counseling, organizational, interpersonal, as well as oral and written communication skills required. Ability to interact with great tact and discretion, with a wide range of people from diverse cultural, social, socioeconomic and academic backgrounds required. Ability to work evening and weekend hours required. Ability to travel required, as needed. Ability to respect the confidentiality of counseling and institutional information required. Ability to work collaboratively, within a small team. Ability to perform efficiently and with a positive outlook under stress. Familiarity with accreditation standards and compliance reporting requirements preferred. Familiarity with database management systems preferred.
