Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Tech Transactions and Data Privacy (Incident Response) Associate Attorney for its Seattle, WA office. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in privacy litigation and be capable of managing the entire process of case work-up and trial preparation. The role involves working closely with clients on sophisticated legal matters, providing practical legal advice, and staying updated on developments in privacy laws. This position requires exceptional legal research and writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of both national and international privacy regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all elements of case work-up, including investigation, case strategy, and trial preparation.
  • Draft a wide variety of legal documents, including briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests.
  • Provide practical legal advice on privacy laws and data security, incident response, and tech transactions.
  • Interact directly with clients, including conducting interviews and advising on complex legal issues.
  • Stay informed on developments in federal, state, and international privacy laws to offer strategic counsel.
  • Work closely with partners and senior attorneys on sophisticated legal matters.
  • Handle complex privacy litigation cases, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide proactive risk management strategies to clients.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on cross-functional legal projects.

Requirements:

  • Significant litigation experience, particularly in privacy and data security litigation.
  • Experience managing case work-up, trial preparation, and providing client-facing legal services.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience drafting legal briefs, complaints, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and international privacy laws, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Ability to provide practical and actionable legal advice to clients on privacy and data security matters.
  • Superior communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Must have excellent academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Washington State Bar, or eligibility to waive in.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience in a law firm or similar legal environment.
  • Familiarity with privacy litigation, data breach response, and tech transactions.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex legal issues.
  • Strong understanding of the evolving landscape of privacy laws (., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Client management experience, with the ability to maintain client relationships and trust.
