2021 - Summer - Tax Associate - State and Local M&A Duties: Integrating state and local tax services with existing clients. Completing tax planning and research. Understanding State and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements . Reviewing the client’s current process to determine where gaps or inefficiencies are present and provide solutions to the client to improve their procedures and reduce exposure . Working with the client’s IT Systems personnel to obtain data downloads of historical purchasing and sales to be analyzed for reporting, audit, review and/or refund potential . Helping the client to identify and uncover available refunds and/or credits . Assisting the client with sales tax software systems selection and implementation RSM’s tax practice includes the following specialty areas in addition to State and Local Tax:. Lead Tax Services - provides a wide range of services to help entrepreneurial businesses manage their federal and state tax obligations. International Tax - works with businesses around the world to build successful cross-border tax strategies.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university. JD Degree required. Accounting major. Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred. Meeting education requirement for CPA certification in the state where you are applying for employment. Preferred: Working toward the successful completion of the CPA exam - tax associates have the opportunity to obtain the audit hours required for full certification. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to work effectively on a team. Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
