Patent Paralegal Responsibilities: In cooperation with outside docketing vendor, manage attorney/agent dockets to ensure all deadlines are met in a timely manner. Review files and confer with attorneys/agents to discuss file status and upcoming deadlines. Prepare patent prosecution documents for filing U.S and foreign patents. Prepare and upload documents for filing. Draft client correspondence and maintain client files and contact information. Develop strong working relationships with clients and coordinate client communication. Assist attorneys/agents with the preparation and filing of applications, office action responses, IDSs and other related documents. Assist with the client billing process. Other administrative tasks and ad hoc projects, as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: College degree preferred, paralegal certificate helpful. 5+ years of experience preparing and filing patent applications, office action responses, IDSs and related prosecution documents. Minimum of high school graduation. Ability to work with and take direction from multiple individuals, to communicate well in a remote setting, as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to learn new software programs. Good planning, prioritization, and organizational skills. Excellent administrative/secretarial proofreading skills, including attention to detail. Cooperation and the ability to collaborate in a team, including cross-office. Ability to problem solve and use sound judgment in dealing with highly confidential information. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Positive and professional demeanor.
