Paralegal â€“ Family Law The candidate will perform legal work as specifically delegated by an attorney, and will review client cases for legal issues and make referrals to program attorneys, as directed. Investigate and develop cases, develop written reports to attorneys detailing results of investigation; draft motions, pleadings and other documents, make and follow up on referrals of clients to appropriate alternative or additional sources of assistance; conduct legal research; and other papers as requested; file legal papers with appropriate courts; provide assistance to clients with legal issues related to services, review cases for legal issues to facilitate the securing of rights, remedies and services for victims from other agencies and attorneys. Conduct outreach to the local area and additional travel within the service area (10-15%).
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Legal Studies Education and/or Paralegal certification. Must have law firm experience (2+years) with background in family law preferred, experience in support of litigation and commitment working with low-income and/or vulnerable clients and communities on civil legal matters also a plus. Bilingual (English-Spanish; spoken and written fluency) preferred. Should have excellent phone manner and professional customer service ability required, with superior organizational and highly polished communication and writing skills.
