Legal Assistant The candidate will be responsible to utilize Microsoft Office and Google Enterprise (G-Suite) and general computer skills such as typing, converting files, and operating internal systems including email and file management. Answer and direct phone calls; greet clients either over the phone or in-person. Gather information over the phone from potential or existing clients, assess client needs and route clients to the correct attorney(s), paralegal(s), and/or department within the firm. Verbal and written communication with clients, courts, other attorneys, and businesses to convey messages from attorneys, and paralegals and to schedule consultations, hearings, and meetings. Organize files and documents; scan documents into case management system. Assist in drafting documents, preparing/organizing court documents and exhibits. Prepare mailings, faxes, and e-filings. Investigative work and research.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 2+ years of experience in a law firm working in an administrative support role. Should be organized with high attention to detail and able to quickly learn new technologies. Should have strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional writing ability and able to compose oneself professionally when dealing with clients who may be emotional and/or difficult. Capable of upholding a level of discretion with confidential information with knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes. Familiarity with MNCIS, Clio, and/or Minnesota District Court e-filing a plus.
