ProfileLegal Assistant III-Civil Litigation Duties: The candidate assists in representing the state’s interests before state or federal appellate courts; assists in researching and drafting briefs; assists in preparing attorneys for oral arguments. Assists with the analysis of complex factual and legal issues related to appellate matters, such as dispositive pleadings, jury charges, moot-verdict and post-trial motions, and appellate briefs and motions Assists other attorneys in providing legal advice, counsel and assistance to client state agencies. Researches and analyzes legal sources such as statutes, case law, administrative records, opinions, articles, treaties, property titles, and rules and regulations. Prepares, reviews, and edits pleadings, motions, briefs, abstracts, petitions, legal correspondence, and other legal documents. Performs related work as assigned. Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions. Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: The candidate should have Law degree from an accredited law school. Should have skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines; Skill in effective oral and written communication; Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making.
