ProfileParalegal – Employment and Litigation DUTIES: Support Associate General Counsel – Employment and Non-Patent Litigation in managing caseload for a variety of matters, and including litigation management and assistance, document drafting and review; database and file maintenance; case investigation, research, and preparation, managing discovery, Human Resources support. Responsible for managing files for litigation matters, including trend analysis, budgets, discovery, document review and deadlines. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to manage cases. Collaborate with organization to investigate various legal issues and prepare information for ACG regarding same. Maintain knowledge and awareness of current and pending developments in legislation, rules and regulations in relevant areas of the law. Make specific recommendations to in-house counsel regarding possible changes in corporate practices in response to these developments. Assist with review and preparation of agreements and other legal documents. Assist with internal litigation reporting requirements for audit and finance purposes. Assist with review and processing of invoices from outside counsel using Serengeti matter management application. Collaborate with and provide support to Human Resources Department on a variety of projects, tasks and legal research. Collaborate with Human Resources to investigate administrative charges and prepare the company’s written position statements and responses to requests for information. Facilitate responses to government agency inquiries (DOL, EEOC, etc.), as well as private litigant subpoenas. Assist with review and preparation of employee agreements, internal policies and benefit plan documents. Assist with the filing, researching, communicating and responding to third-party insurance companies related to various insurance policies and litigation matters.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Paralegal Degree or Certification required. Bachelors Degree preferred. Specialized training in employment law, litigation or equivalent work experience strongly preferred. 5+ years professional level litigation support in-house or in a law firm. Litigation experience preferred. International and Human Resources experience is a plus. Extremely organized with a strong sense of priority, urgency and commitment to deadlines; Attention to detail and analytical skills are critical. Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with members of other departments in order to support their functions as well as to assist them in supporting the legal staff. Extremely responsive to internal and external requests. Ability to handle highly confidential information discreetly and professionally. Ability to develop strong relationships across the organization, cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization. Ability to adapt to a diverse client base. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to manage a heavy workload and prioritize multiple projects. Ability to work independently while functioning well in a team environment. Ability to understand general business operations, issues and dynamics beyond the scope of basic legal issues. Proficient in MS Office, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Serengeti a plus.
