Temporary Programme Management Officer, P4 The candidate will support the development of policies and planning tools that promote integrated ROLSI plans and activities at Headquarters and – in particular – in field operations. Coordinate OROLSI’s contribution to the overall results-based budget, programme management and performance reporting processes for the Department. Coordinate and contribute to the development and implementation of Departmental policies, guidelines, SOPs, manuals and other issuances related to the OROLSI specialist functional areas. Manage the implementation projects that will strengthen the Department’s capacity to plan and deliver critical early peacebuilding tasks in peacekeeping contexts; Develop strategic and - operational partnerships within and outside the UN system in support of ROLSI components in field operations. Manage the flow of information/documents into and from the Office including screening/drafting routine and strategic documents (e.g. budget narratives, Secretary-General’s reports, speeches) and prepare outgoing correspondence (notes, cables, letters, minutes and other documents). Accompany the ASG and other senior OROLSI staff on missions and provide the requisite support in planning and preparing all aspects of travel. Represent OROLSI in working groups, meetings, conferences, and other forums convened by UN and non-UN actors. Support and back-up the Special Assistant to the ASG as required.Competencies Professionalism: Knowledge of the functioning of the UN system in the area of peace and security, including in the areas of rule of law and security institutions. Familiarity with the structure of DPKO/DFS and integrated peacekeeping operations as well as special political missions. Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, law or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Must have 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in peacekeeping or peacebuilding, including experience in policy development in the areas covered by the Office and/or planning and implementation of field operations in the areas covered by the Office. 1+ year of experience in UN peacekeeping or other post-conflict field operation is highly desirable. Experience drafting high-quality, budget, programme and planning documents as well as speeches and talking points in English is required. Experience coordinating and managing project development and implementation is highly desirable.English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of another official language, preferably French, is desirable.
