Legal Counsel, Pension Risk Transfer Duties: Assists Legal Department in supporting pension risk transfer business, with a focus on drafting contracts and providing legal advice regarding laws and regulations that impact the business. Draft pension risk transfer group annuity contracts and service agreements related to pension risk transfer transactions. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with company representatives who are involved in the pension risk transfer and the retail annuity product development business. Provide legal advice to business units regarding compliance with laws and regulations that impact the pension risk transfer business. Advise annuity form filings teams on responding to regulatory inquiries and forms objections. Assist with the review and drafting of proposal documents in connection with bidding on pension risk transfer transactions. Assist with the review and drafting of retail annuity product forms and related forms, such as certificates of disclosure.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited law school. 3+ years’ experience drafting group annuity contracts and related services agreements. 3+ years’ experience providing legal advice on federal law relating to pensions, including the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA. 3+ years’ experience providing legal advice relating to annuity products. Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate contracts with third parties, communicate legal advice to business clients and tactfully deal with regulators. Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently. Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work efficiently under tight timelines.
