AVP, Team Manager MPL
The candidate will manage and lead one of four MPL teams within the Professional/Specialty Lines of business. Deliver service levels on behalf of the team in accord with the Key Service Standards and Governance Model. Drive employee engagement by exhibiting passion for the company, values, business, and our customers. Responsible for strategically assigning new claims amongst team members. Take lead in assuring correct coding on claim files within the team. First escalation point for all customer and broker complaints. Encourage effective litigation management within the team. Empowered to issue denials without management approval, responsible for reviewing/approving denials on team. Assist VP in preparing and presenting quarterly reserving packs. Actively feed the Claims/UW/Actuarial feedback loop. Play an active role in recruitment, on-boarding, and retention. Keep senior claims management adequately and appropriately informed of key issues. Undertake quality file reviews and provide feedback to the claim professionals. Utilize metrics and KPIs to drive behavior and change. Should have 8+ years of claims handling and claims management experience. A JD from an ABA-accredited law school may be considered as a supplement to claims handling experience; leadership and people management skills; expert knowledge of claims handling practices including coverage analysis, litigation management, and negotiation; excellent analytical, critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills; strong rapport-building and relationship effectiveness skills; demonstrated efforts to advance product innovation, improve claims processes and/or develop a greater understanding of other aspects of the business by training, interactions with external/internal shareholders, or other relevant projects; a technical leader with the ability to respond to challenges that may arise when asked by direct reports or others inside and outside of the organization; demonstrates Hiscox values in their daily practices by addressing difficult situations with insureds, brokers, and claimants; proven ability to get things done with minimal oversight and work across all relevant departments (claims, operations, underwriting, marketing, etc.) within Hiscox to improve not only the claims experience but the overall performance of the company.
