Legal & Compliance Analyst Responsibilities: Research statutes, cases, status of pending matters, administrative rules and decisions, pending legislation, and/or regulatory and compliance requirements and provide initial analysis and recommendation for review by an attorney. Investigate, track, and make recommendations regarding inquires or complaints received from external sources such as regulatory and administrative agencies, subscribers, and providers, including coordinating with other internal departments as necessary. Research, track, and respond to third party record requests, subpoenas, subrogation notices, and other document requests or legal matters received, including coordinating with other internal departments as necessary. Research, track, and respond to general customer service inquiries, and review and approve general legal documentation, including but not limited to consents and authorizations, powers of attorney, etc. Research local, state, and federal licensing renewal requirements and other regulatory compliance requirements, particularly as they relate to registration and license renewals. Prepare and file corporate, administrative, and licensing registration and renewal forms in all relevant jurisdictions to maintain existing licenses. Review, edit, and/or prepare drafts of form contracts. Support the Legal & Compliance Department with contract management. Prepare drafts of, review, and/or make recommendations regarding the preparation and submission of legal and corporate documents including policies, procedures, processes, forms, filings, contracts, minutes, resolutions, correspondence, reports, and/or other factual summaries. Evaluate, research, track, maintain records of, and make recommendations regarding potential HIPAA disclosures. Maintain legal and compliance databases, records, and related department files. Assist with tracking and logging of department assignments and requests for legal work received from various departments. Assist Legal & Compliance Department as necessary to manage fraud and abuse investigation and recovery efforts, including coordinating with other internal departments as necessary. Support Legal & Compliance Department during litigation/arbitration.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: An associate’s degree in a related field and/or completion of a paralegal certification program, as well as 2 years’ related experience in a legal setting. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience. Knowledge of federal and state statutes and regulations and experience in performing legal research; ability to review and analyze general legal documentation and compliance requirements; advanced analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills; high attention to detail, superb organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects and deadlines; the ability to edit and compose business and legal documents and correspondence; and, the ability to utilize appropriate word processing and related software, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access, Adobe, Excel, Power Point, and electronic signature programs.
