Assistant Attorney General III The candidate handles cases involving environmental and administrative law, among other matters. Represents state agencies in state and federal district and appellate courts in complex litigation matters including judicial review of agency orders, environmental and other enforcement. Proceedings, and actions challenging agency rules and statutes, including drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery procedures; participates in trial and appellate advocacy. Analyzes diverse and highly complex factual and legal issues using independent judgment and action. Represents the Office of the Attorney General and state agencies in state district and appellate courts in litigation. Performs related work as assigned. Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions. Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have done Graduation from an accredited law school with a J.D. Must be licensed as an attorney by the State Bar of Texas and a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Must have Three(3) years of full-time experience as a licensed attorney. Utility law experience required. Knowledge of federal and state utility law statutes and regulations. Expertise in green and blue book cite form. Knowledge of laws and legal principles and practices relevant to environmental protection. Four years civil litigation experience, including appellate and brief writing experience preferred. Ability to synthesize complex technical information related to water, gas, and electric rates. Proficiency in both writing and arguing these and other technical and complex issues before the court.
