Location:

Duties:

• Provide legal representation and support in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and adoption.
• Conduct legal research and draft petitions, motions, and settlement agreements.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings and trials.
• Offer guidance and counsel to clients regarding legal rights and potential outcomes.
• Manage a caseload of family law cases, maintaining client communication and case updates.
• Participate in negotiations to reach settlements and engage in mediation when appropriate.
• Collaborate with the Regional Managing Attorney and mentor a team of legal professionals.
• Achieve billable hour requirements and work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate client billing.

Requirements:

• 1+ years of family law or matrimonial law experience preferred.
• 1+ years of general litigation experience required.
• Membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.
• Familiarity with the New York Family Court Act and Domestic Relations Law.
• Strong writing, editing, and legal document drafting skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive legal matters such as divorce, child custody, and domestic violence.
• Excellent organizational skills and flexibility in handling changing priorities and deadlines.
• Positive, collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Capable of managing high-stress litigation matters with composure.
• Empathy, humility, and professionalism when interacting with clients and colleagues.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active New York State Bar membership required.

Certifications:

• New York State Bar license.
• Membership in additional state bars is a plus but not required.

Skills:

• Strong client communication and counseling abilities.
• Legal research, writing, and document drafting proficiency.
• Negotiation and mediation skills in family law matters.
• Excellent courtroom advocacy and litigation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
