Director of Health Law Partnership Duties: Responsible for supervising the legal work of all unit staff; interfacing with the medical director and hospital administration, overseeing summer internship and externship programs, engaging the private Bar to build pro bono partnerships; fundraising, including collaborating and Children’s on grant applications and reports to multiple funding sources; developing and sustaining relationships with clinicians, social workers, and patient advocates of the populations served, including providing hospital professional education; and identifying, prioritizing and addressing systemic advocacy issues and opportunities through collaboration with appropriate community groups and with faculty at Georgia State University. Will also have evaluation, research and scholarship responsibilities including setting and monitoring the contract with the program evaluator, and identifying new opportunities; developing the research agenda; supervising administration of surveys to research subjects; serving as Principal Investigator on IRB-approved research projects, and participating in monthly evaluation/research meetings.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A Georgia Bar license or eligibility for the next Georgia Bar exam is required, as is a 6+ years of legal experience. 6 years' experience managing a work unit as well as supervising and mentoring attorneys; excellent legal writing and advocacy skills; ability to communicate effectively with children, families, doctors, social workers and hospital staff; and an appreciation of diversity. Preferred include a health-related degree, previous work with low income persons and/or persons with serious diseases, and knowledge of health law, poverty law and children’s legal issues. Proficiency in Spanish and willingness to improve language skills is highly valued.
